Girls Bedroom Remodel Part 1

So this year’s project (aside from organizing) is the girl’s bedroom. We bought our home back in 2008 with all flat white walls. I guess I could have seen them as blank canvases but with little time to dedicate to home decor with toddlers; this was the last thing on my mind. It wasn't till the second baby came along and the walls started to become not so white due to all these cute little hands. I’ve been wanting to something special for their room but have not put much thought into it until started I thinking about our youngest using a big girl bed. The room is about the garage to its kind of long and narrow with the closet and windows in the most usable spaces of walls. :( I know in order to fit another bed in there to accommodate 3 girls, I'm going to have to think of clever storage and eliminate furniture. It has been a slow start so far. I have to work at it when I have spare time which is none.
Here are some before shots. As you can see it’s not very clean or organized, that's because I almost forgot any before shots. This room has taken many changes over the last 4 years but its fine time I fix it up nice for our special little girlie's :)

So it was off to Pinterest for some inspiration. Here is where I drew some of my ideas from:

As for now I only have painted the base colors. I bright sunny yellow and very pretty regal purple for a large accent wall and two smaller ones where the dormer is. I purchased an all over wall stencil for the accent walls from http://www.designerstencils.com/. I wanted to keep the garden theme but make it more chic. I loved the lattice with floral stencil. It had exactly what I was looking for in an all over print without having to draw something out and cut it myself. Stenciling is very time consuming but the end result is awesome. I used some metallic acrylic paint so that from different angles it looks shiny. At first I thought the colors were a little extreme for my liking (could have also been the white walls for so long) but the stenciling softened the purple and made it work.

Once the painting is finished I can start moving on to other projects such as the closet system. It came in today at Wal-Mart (Yeeeahhhh!!!) Putting it together (Booooo!!!) Most of the organization will take place once that is finished. Combining three girls’ dressers into on closet will be interesting. If I end up still having to use a dresser, I wouldn't be too disappointed because I do not have many ideas for where to put their TV and Wii. Then next business is to freshen up the bed frames to a crisp washable white and I have planned an awesome way for my Lexi Poo to store all her jewelry.

So many ideas and too short of nap times. Loving how it’s all turning out so far. Cannot wait to share with what I come up with next.

Love Lots
Steph
